Racial Bias
Studies reveal that a racial bias plays a significant role in whether a convicted criminal receives the Death Penalty. More than 20% of convicted black Death Penalties were given to an all white jury. If a black man kills a white man, he is 3 times more likely to get the Death Penalty than a white man killing a white man. 37% of American prisoners are black, 41% are in Death Row. 3,350 people on Death Row as of 2007, 40% are black.
Against the United States
The 8th Amendment states that cruel and unusual punishment is prohibited. As of 2007, 129 countries (more than half the world) have Abolished the Death Penalty.
Wrongly Accused
Innocents Project, founded by Barry Scheck and Peter Neufeld. States, as of 2007, 201 wrongly convicted and 15 in Death Row. A total of 2,475 years in prison for crimes they didn't commit. 111 Death Row inmates who, since 1973, were proven innocent. This is why its not trust able. Police Chiefs from all around the world have studied and said that the Death Penalty does not decrease the crime rate. For example, in Baltimore, the Death Penalty did not decrease murders.
